This series of photographs shows facets of the life within allotments in and around Potsdam, my hometown in Germany. For over 100 years people here have been cultivating their little piece of green to relax, plant vegetables and flowers, lie in the sun, meet with friends and family and enjoy their own personal freedom from daily demands. Many plots have been lost in order to make way for new supermarkets and car parks in and around the city centre. Interesting details within the designs of the plots show individuality and also reference traditional and cultural associations.
